Exchanging Notes on Your Wedding Day

The Importance of Exchanging Notes on Your Wedding Day

A lot goes into planning a successful wedding! More than you know πŸ™‚ Perhaps if you work in the wedding industry – but other than that you have no idea. It is a lot! It is easy for some of the little things to get lost in the shuffle of your wedding day. And some of the most meaningful things only take a few minutes to pull off.

As much as you want your wedding day to be about you and your partner, there will be little to no time to spend with just the two of you. Adding in little moments where you can take a deep breath and share your emotions is really important. This can take many different forms. I have seen couples create wedding playlists for each other to listen to as they get prepared. Having a β€œfirst look” is a really great idea. And exchanging a heartfelt note is also a really great thing that you can do. These little moments are some of the most memorable parts of your wedding that you will look back on.

Having gotten married myself, I can attest to the fact that 8-10 hours goes by in what seems like just a couple of hours. There are parts of my wedding day that are just a blur. I remember thinking at the end of the night β€œwow, it’s over already?!”

Creating moments where you can connect with your partner is something every couple should add into their wedding day. A note is something that you can save and look back on in the years to come. My wife and I have our wedding vows framed and it is really cool to look at it from time-to-time.

Write Your Note The Day Before

If you are planning on writing a note, make sure you have enough time to really put some thought into it. Writing it the night before or soon after you wake up, on the day of the wedding, is a really good idea. You will want to spend at least 15-20 minutes on the note; and you may not have this time if you plan on writing it the day of the wedding.

What To Put In Your Note

You can put whatever you want in your note – but the most important thing to include is how you are feeling. Chances are, your partner is having the same emotions and sharing these feelings will do a lot to calm their nerves. Let them know if you are nervous or if you are excited; and how anxious you are to see them up at the alter are all great things to include in your note.

Delivering Your Note

Getting the note to your partner can take a few different forms. Typically, the Best Man or Maid of Honor will deliver the note; however, I have seen other methods. I have had couples read their notes to each other – while being separated by a wall. And I have actually delivered a few notes to many of my past Brides and Grooms πŸ™‚

How ever you decide to do it, I think it is a GREAT idea to incorporate into your wedding day. You may only get 15-20 minutes alone with your partner, on the day of your wedding, and adding a hand written note is an excellent way to add another little special moment between the two of you.
