Engagement Portraits At Sanborn County Park

Engagement Portraits At Sanborn County Park in Saratoga, CA

Engagement portraits are typically the first professional photography session that couples ever take. And if you’ve never taken professional portraits before, this can cause a little bit of nerves. I believe that engagement portraits should be fun, candid, and feel unposed. Rather than looking right into the camera for most of the poses, I like to get couples moving and interacting with each other. Most couples appreciate this approach and pose really well with interactive poses 🙂 Here are some examples of the types of poses I love to capture of couples. As well as four reasons why engagement portraits at Sanborn County Park is a great location option.

Sanborn County Park Has Great Lighting At Any Time Of Day

One of the main reasons I love taking engagement portraits at Sanborn County Park is that the lighting is great at any time of the day. Due to the large amounts of open shade throughout the park, it creates soft and flattering lighting. One of the most common misconceptions about lighting is that the more sun, the better. Shade is actually much better lighting than direct sunlight. For this reason, Sanborn County Park is an ideal location for portraits that are scheduled in the afternoon. If you are flexible on the timing of the session, I always recommend the evenings – as this is the best time to take outdoor portraits.

The Redwood Trees Are BEAUTIFUL

Perhaps the best reason that Sanborn County Park is a great location for engagement portraits is because of the beautiful redwood trees. Redwood Trees are unique to California and make for stunning backgrounds for your portraits. If you and your partner love being in nature, I highly recommend Sanborn County Park.

The Park Is Typically Not Too Busy

The third reason why I love taking engagement portraits at Sanborn County Park is because it is typically not too busy. Especially during the week. If it is your first professional portrait session, taking the portraits at a location where there are not a lot of people can make you feel a little more comfortable. Although the park is typically less crowded than most other locations, it can be slightly busier on weekends and holidays.

There Are Restrooms – If You Want To Change Outfits

Last but not least, Sanborn County Park is a great option for couples who plan on changing into a second outfit. Not every couple chooses to do this – but this is an option if you choose to do so. For example, one outfit can be very casual and a second outfit can be a little more dressy.

If you are planning an engagement session, hopefully this brief article has been helpful. Thanks!
